Say hello to Negan
The identity of Lucille’s first victim on The Walking Dead will be revealed in the season 7 premiere, but if you think the impact of the show’s biggest villain ever will end there, think again.
THE INSTRUMENT THAT OPENED THE EYES
“Let us be reasonable and open our eyes, especially you women, because you are the first to influence the consciousness of man”, Rizal emphasized this in his letter to the young women of Malolos. Foreseeing a bright future that awaits this nation, that all women would recognize their essential role in the community that will lead in pursuit of raising responsible, God-fearing, educated, and national conscious children from generation to generation.
The candle could not yield the flame on its own; a match is needed to light it up. She is never the light, but the match that yields it. She is well-equipped and secured of her matchbox, her faith springing up more each day. She is the best spiritual mother anyone can have. Time passed by, the room was no longer gloomy. The candle was no longer into the world. She mirrors the kind of woman that Rizal was being hopeful for Filipino women to become. She was the instrument that God has sent the candle, it was never a coincidence, but rather a blessing. She taught her about life, its purpose, and how to live it that is worthy of the gospel of Christ. If God is a seed, she planted Him deep within her heart. As the ticking of the clock continued, the candle progressively lives her life knowing God all the more. There was this fire in her heart that she could not contain anymore. This fire is the eagerness to seek Him every day and to praise Him in all her ways. The match brought a great impact in her life, especially in the spiritual aspect. She never fails to check on her despite of her hectic schedule, ever. She encourages her to do her best in everything for His glory. She keeps on reminding her not to rely on her own wisdom and strength, because it will never be enough. God is the one who will strengthen her and the Holy Spirit will enable her to discern the things which are beyond the understanding of man’s wisdom. She never gets tired of reminding her of Matthew 6:33. She told her that a student striving for excellence is pleasing to God, is a way for the unbelievers to see His glory. In difficult circumstances, she never leaves her and is ready to guide her to fight the good fight of faith. Indeed she is well-armored by her spiritual faith. Another thing that she wants her to constantly bear in mind is to seek things that comes from above, not on worldly things that do not give everyone satisfaction. In every achievement and failure, she taught me to always bring back all the glory and praise to the One True King. She brought up the candle to be the image of the true God, not of a blackmailing, a grasping God, but of a God who is the Father of us all, who is just; who does not make a crooked path of justice. She awakened and prepared the candle’s will towards all that is honorable, judged by proper standards; to all that is sincere and firm of purpose, clear judgment and procedure, honesty in act and deed, love for the fellowmen and respect for God.
As the water in the river flows and as the plants on the vineyard grows, she hopes that someday the candle would also turn into a match in His perfect time. “No good water comes from a turbid, bitter spring; no savory fruit comes from acrid seed”, Rizal metaphorically emphasized in his letter to the young women of Malolos. The light that the match brought to the candle is eternal, so is God. She told me once, “Life of a Christian is not a bed of roses, but rather a bed of thorns.” She is indeed a victorious instrument of the Mighty One.
